Introduction

Hello, this post explains why the blog has moved from WordPress to Medium, the hiatus, and what you can expect now that it's here.

It has been a long minute since I published anything and there are many reasons for that, all the reasons are legitimate and the biggest reason is that I was tired.

As usual, while I was on hiatus I’ve learned and grown a lot spiritually and even started a podcast (that is currently on hiatus too, God help me). The silver lining to all these is that I am getting a lot of rest and time these days so you can expect a season of publications. The reason I moved from WordPress to Medium and what you can expect from the blog going forward are in subsequent paragraphs.

For new readers, the blog was formerly hosted on WordPress under the title -I AM IN CHURCH- but WordPress started to take away the pleasure from blogging with the gymnastics that comes with designing a website, paying to make it ad-free and making it look good etcetera when all I want to do is write and publish. Medium solves that problem for me very well that’s why I moved. I did my best to import most of my previous publications from WordPress but while I was doing that, I noticed some posts that were not sound, so I have thrown them away, never to be featured on any screen again.

What You Can Expect Going Forward

  1. Exclusive Email Notifications List: Now that the blog is here on Medium, at the end of every publication there would be an opportunity for you to subscribe to a mailing list (you only need to do this once) so that you can get new post alerts and updates from me, this would also help me track the growth of the blog. Also, I need to stop spamming my WhatsApp contact list, there are some people on there I haven't spoken to for years and they have over 10 broadcast messages from me about the blog and the podcast, it's ugly to look at.
  2. Simple and Better Structured Content: As I mentioned in the introduction, I experienced a lot of growth during the hiatus, which means my writing has matured to favor simpler, easier-to-understand content and outline, no more just going with the flow. This would not change the type of topics I feature, but the delivery would be better. However, there would be days I would come into the tabernacle with koboko to flog people and flip tables but it’s safe to say that 80% of the publications would be your friendly neighborhood content.
  3. No more song recommendations or fancy pictures or GIFs: Honestly, you guys never even rated the song recommendations for some reason. I know cause I tracked the number of times the links got clicked. Also, all that Canva gymnastics I used to give you guys would not feature in the posts anymore, if you see them it would be outside the post, maybe in an email or some other platform. In the post, all you would get is a boring blue and white sticker that reads out the title that is already clearly typed out. This is what you get when you don’t engage content properly, it’s not easy and I can not come and go and come and die for you, I can’t.
  4. Fingers Crossed: If there's anything adulting has taught me it is that you can plan all you want, the moment you start to execute, the plan would not make sense again. That means you may check the blog tomorrow and discover that I now use it to advertise spare parts for Toyota Camry or something. While I would do everything possible to make sure that the blog is not used to advertise spare parts but give you quality Jesus Gospel content, please be flexible, be kind with your comments, and for goodness sake, be generous with your claps, share the posts with your community and subscribe.

What Should You Do Next?

  1. Catch up or review previous posts: Remember I said I imported all the old posts except some? There may be some posts you have not read or maybe some you would like to read again. To get you started you can check out the most read publication while we were still on WordPress, or something on romantic relationships because that's the kind of thing you like.
  2. Subscribe to the mailing list: There are two ways to support the blog, if you have a Medium account you can follow and if you don’t you can subscribe to the mailing list. There is no better time to subscribe to the mailing list than now. All you need to do is type your email address below and click/tap subscribe and you're all set up. Once you do these all that's left, anticipate the next post titled “The Real reasons why people fail at being Christians”.

Your friendly, neighborhood, Christian blogger
